Working with Action for Justice and Equity in Burundi (AJEBU)

Human rights violations are among the root foundations of each form of uncertainty and variability. Failure to guarantee good governance, the impartial rule of law and comprehensive social justice and expansion can trigger dispute, as well as commercial, political and social turmoil.

This is why, among other reasons, our law firm has partnered with Action for Justice and Equity in Burundi (AJEBU). This is a non-profit organisation focussing on promoting and protecting human rights in Burundi through projects implementation, civic education and trainings as well. The organisation aims:

  1. To contribute to the protection and promotion of human rights through both immediate and long-term action;
  2. To empower the population to assert and claim their human rights;
  3. To enable State and other national institutions to implement their human rights obligations and uphold the rule of law.

The current project (2019-2020) is being conducted in Bubanza Province (western part of Burundi). With the help of our human rights lawyers, more than fifty (50) children of the age under eighteen will be assisted in criminal and civil cases involving such human being.

Other organisations we are working with include the Association of Burundian women who studied law (Association des Femmes Juristes du Burundi (AFJB)) and the company Land and Development Expertise Centre (LADEC).

The “AFJB” focusses on women and children’s rights protection and the “LADEC” deals with land and associated rights management in general.

In this regard, both organisations are sometimes in need of lawyers and/or consultants to partner with. Alpha Justice Chambers has been and is still one of their privileged choice.
